I know, two articles in a day: it seems I have nothing more important to do… Yes! It’s exactly that: Holidays!
But if the incipit colud be funny what I want to write it’s much less.
Nay is not a killer, he’s not a thief, he’s not a rapis or a cracker: he’s a blogger and a sympathizer of the National League for Democracy the party in opposition to the military government in Burma.
In his blog he was used to described the life in his country, the difficoulties, the hardships of every day (it’s not necessary to remember the massacre of monks in these last months).
Burma is one of the 13 Internet enemies ( togheter with China, South Arabia, Myanmar, Bielorussia, North Corea, Cuba, Egypt, Iran, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Sirya, Tunisia and Vietnam ), the military junta filters sites of the opposition, every five minutes are recorded screenshot of computers of Internet cafes, many instant messaging and VoIP services are blocked. This is to suppress dissent and to feed the coffers of TLC state-owned companies .
Reporters Without Borders and the Burma Media Association say:
This blockage is one of the ways used by the government to reduce Burmese citizens to silence, they can no long post blog entries or disseminate information. Burma is in danger of being cut off from the rest of the world again.
In these few days of 2008, 65 “cyberdissident” have been emprisoned.
The only thing we can do is not to ignore these facts. Anyone with a blog, a space, some bits to spend write about that, make a link to this article or post the image I drew. This is my appeal to you: we have to use our freedom (until we granted) to help the ones that have not.
Thank you!
